The Brazilian World Cup is almost upon us. If you want to enjoy the camradarie of watching the games with a drink in hand with a crowd of spellbound fans then you’re in luck. Pimlico has a whole host of pubs which show major sporting events. Here are our favourite three:
The Elusive Camel
This upbeat and lively local public house offers a diverse selection of beers, wines and cocktails as well as home cooked bar food. Renovated by top designer Sean Clarkson, The Elusive Camel has a trendy contemporary interior with comfy leather sofas, open fire, a big screen and four smaller screens for showing all major sporting events.
The Queen’s Arms
A lovely gastro-pub in the heart of Pimlico, The Queens Arms, is a well-known gem. Set over two floors it is always bursting with energetic friends catching up over a glass of wine on the ground floor and one of the prettiest dining rooms at the top of a spiralling staircase. The food is excellent and the large TV screen shows sports.
Beer starts from £4.50 and a bottle of wine will set you back £15.90.
This old-fashioned early 19th century pub is a favourite for sports enthusiasts. Full of locals (rather than tourists) enjoying a pint and a game the pub calls itself a “true oasis in a sea of plastic bars”. Serving no nonsense food including scampi, cheddar ploughman’s and homemade steak and ale pie this is a perfect low key atmosphere in which to watch the matches.
